Current roles
Six fronts at the same time
Clinical care, teaching, research, and professional representation go hand in hand — it is from this combination that Escola de Pacientes' projects come.

Escola de Pacientes
Since 2016 I have directed the work and research of Escola de Pacientes, which brought together in one strategy three fronts that usually run separately: continuing education for professionals, health training for students, and health education for patients and the community.
What sets it apart from similar initiatives are the products it has left behind: the clinical simulations and digital patients, the Age-Based Medical Record, the Simple Prescription, the YouTube channel, and the care and guidance folders, with technical annexes and printed or digital material for the clinic and social media.
Figures compiled up to March 2025.
Creating educational tools for students and patients, clinical training, and in-service education is a daily constant, contributing to graduate data and to the unit's scientific output. My life story is in SUS and is based on the pillars of health, education, and community involvement.

Undergraduate studies and what came from them
I completed Medicine at UnB in 2015, with a sandwich undergraduate program through Science Without Borders at the University of Calgary — main campus, Foothills General Hospital, with an internship at Alberta Children's Hospital. The international experience of 2013 was significant for its professional and personal learning, and for improving my English and French.
During my undergraduate studies I took part in research projects in Medical Education and in Biochemistry and Biophysics, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Marcelo Hermes-Lima: two undergraduate research projects and presentations at five national and two international conferences, winning best paper for "Students' blogs as a tool for learning Clinical Biochemistry", in 2010. During that period I was responsible for science communication on the course page, in the "Coluna do Estêvão" (Estêvão's Column).
I then conducted research in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Dr. Sérgio Arruda's Clinic, with work presented at two national conferences — also winning best paper, in 2011 — and three international ones. The last was the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity congress in New Delhi, in 2012.
Outside research, I took part in histology and anatomy tutoring, coordinated the organization of materials from senior students for first-years — the Standard Folder (Pasta Padrão) — and joined the Class 88 Study Group, with weekly five-hour meetings over three years to prepare for residency exams. The final rotation was in Psychiatry and Primary Care, with a rural placement in Ceres, Goiás.
Between undergraduate and graduate studies
I worked for a year on phase III clinical trials at the L2 Clinical Research Institute, linked to the Center for Clinical and Basic Research, based in Denmark. Postgraduate studies followed in Geriatrics and Gerontology and in Public Health and Family Health, in addition to courses at the Brazilian Institute of Education, the SUPERA course (UNIFESP and SENAD), and the PROMEF continuing education program in Family Medicine and PROPSIQ in Psychiatry.

Professional objective
I seek a balance between clinical care, project coordination, scientific training, and the acquisition of knowledge for practical application and theoretical refinement, contributing to academia and to society. Training in primary care depends on a safe environment of collaboration, good projects, and connections for future work — and it is new experiences that shape the next steps in scientific output, preceptorship, and clinical care.
